Eddie Palmieri is the most famous Puerto Rican pianist worldwide. He is one of the great pioneers of the 60s and 70s salsa music. His innovative pianistic style – often vigorous and aggressive – inspired many salsa pianists through the different periods.

Papo Lucca

Papo Lucca is certainly the Puerto Rican pianist who had the greatest influence on the young generation of salsa pianists of the 70s and 80s. His contribution through the famous orchestra La Sonora Ponceña leaves one of the most important heritage of the Puerto Rican salsa.

Oscar Hernández

Oscar Hernández is one of the pillars of a new generation of salsa pianists. From the late 70s to early 90s, his long collaboration with Ray Barretto and Rubén Blades gave birth to some of the greatest masterpieces of salsa. More recently, Oscar Hernández founded the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, one of the best current bands of Salsa dura.
